    Product Description

    It is one of the most commonly found types of zinc supplements and is bound to orotic acid. Zinc citrate: A study shows zinc citrate is as effective as zinc gluconate, but has a less bitter, more pleasant taste.

    Symptoms of zinc deficiency can be treated with zinc orotate: Osteoporosis, hypogonadism, low testosterone, heart disease, diabetes, atrophy of the thymus, low white blood cells, and weakened immunity

    How to use:

    People with severe diarrhea, cirrhosis of the liver and alcoholism, and those who are hospitalized for long periods of time may have zinc deficiency. It is possible to restore zinc levels in people who are zinc deficient by taking zinc or giving zinc intravenously (by IV). However, taking zinc supplements regularly is not advised.

    Dosage of usage:

    • Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) quantities of zinc:
    • Boys and men age 14 and older: 11 mg/day
    • Women 19 and older: 8 mg/day
    • Pregnant women 14 to 18: 13 mg/day
    • Pregnant women 19 and older: 11 mg/day
    • Lactating women 14 to 18: 14 mg/day
    • Lactating women 19 and older: 12 mg/day


    For people who do not receive zinc under medical supervision, acceptable upper intake levels (UL) of zinc could be:

    Adults 19 years and older (including pregnancy and lactation): 40 mg/day

    The amount of elemental zinc in different salts varies. There is 23% elemental zinc in zinc sulfate; 220 mg of zinc sulfate has 50 mg of zinc. There is 14.3% elemental zinc in Zinc gluconate; 10 mg of zinc gluconate has 1.43 mg zinc.

     Side effects:

    Some people may experience diarrhea, metallic tastes, nausea, vomiting, kidney and stomach damage, and other side effects from zinc. It is possible that zinc can be taken by mouth at doses greater than 40 mg daily, especially if these doses are taken for a short period of time.

    Warnings and precautions while using this product

    Pregnancy and breast-feeding: When consumed in the recommended daily amounts (RDAs), zinc is likely to be safe for most pregnant and breastfeeding women.
